Hey guys, my 750 2wd went with a 3 point mower for around 6k so seems like the 950 question is up to shape and how much a guy can afford. The 750 had ran a 4' woods rotary and a 6' woods finishing with no problem. Mowing crp was done to 8 acres in about 10 hours with that 4' mower. I drove slow because it was rough and the owner wanted a nice even cut. I did what I was asked since I was paid by the hour. The point is that a 950 would work great for pasture mowing and some light snow removal. And sometimes weight is better for snow than 4wd. Yes it helps, but if you can blade with a 4 wheeler then I think the 950 will too. If it's wet snow you can always hire out a time or two vs. paying for a 4wd.

I use either a 16' tandem car trailer with the 3500# axles and 2" ball hitch or my 14' gooseneck beaver tail for pulling a 4600 with 460 loader and finishing mower behind a 4wd fullsize truck. You can easily pull it 20 - 30 miles if you take your time at starting and stopping unless you like to replace brakes. Yes, brakes are nice and a sensible idea to be a responsible driver if you plan on doing custom work like I do and have it on the road alot.

I understand the theory of weight not needing any help from the system, but maybe this is common in all the 4000 series. I have not seen this with my dad's case skidloader in all the numerous hours I've spent in it. Resriction, could be too, but why would it go slower when dumping and then when the bucket is empty it waits 2 or 3 seconds then takes off at full speed. I thought this might just be the weight causing a reaction like this so I tried it empty, and it still does it. It doesn't really bother all that much other than the fact that this tractor has 30 hours on it and my dad's skidloader has how many hours on it. His other tractor with a loader does not do it either. So I was raising the question to you guys out there to see if it is common with the little deeres or if I need to be seeing my dealer about it so it can be turned in under warranty. I just don't to ignore it and then something breaks or snaps after the warranty is up and then my green in my wallet will be paying for it. Thanks for the reply!

My 4600 is great! People blow that axle thing out of proportion. Sure it will cut the turf if you don't slow down on turns but it is nothing that will stop your production hours of the machiine. I think it's wise to get the rear wheel weights if you plan on any loader work with dirt, gravel, etc. or plan to keep an implement on the back. The hydraulics have no problem picking the rear end off the ground. Hydro is a must for loader work. Forks (pallet) are awesome for moving odd ball stuff around and I have yet to install the third valve because didn't want it on the fender. I will mount it down where the three point lever is. Any questions about the 4600 you have and I'll go home and drive it to check t out for ya.

Hey guys, I have a 4600, 460 loader, 73" bucket and pallets forks and like one said earlier I use my forks more than my bucket. Reason I went with deere forks is that they were in the back (in stock) when I bought the tractor last month. And they set them up and loaded them for 900 bucks. I also bought the forks because my dad vuilt a set for his skidloader and wouldn't have saved his back with out them. Pallets, bales, telephone poles, rerod, etc. are all uses I have used them for. Just don't get in a hurry when you're loaded and on a side hill without weight on back, it kind of makes ya think twice when you have to stop fast and it rocks clear off the back wheels, stupid? yeah, but makes me think about buying the wheel weights for it now. Experience is the best teacher!

Hey Bob, just bought a 4600 last month and also bought a 6' disc but have not put the cat 1 pins on it yet. I have some plowed ground I would like to try and some weedy ground to cut up before winter. Problem is, it just rained 4 incehs last week and 2 1/2" after that so I won't be gong to the field real soon without compacting the ground but if you'd like you can email me at Jeff.Hammes@motorola.com and let me know if you are interested in the test before you buy as I do not read these forums every week.

P.S. It was a used disc so it's like an old case that is pretty heavy, not a new lightweight.

Looking into the compacts I have questions on whether or not I should go with Deere or New Holland? Deere is nice but reading about front axle problems and valve problems I wander if the super steer, swivel seat, and new joystick for the TC35D is the way to go. But then I think about resale, will people be looking for a deere or something blue and will they go for function or color?Please help in aiding my decision on how to spend my money, not that I am in a hurry, I am researching before I buy.
